Govt. of the People, For the People, By the People

Gettysburg address

“It is rather for us, the living, we here be dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that, from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here, gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve these dead shall not have died in vain; that the nation, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people by the people for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Abraham Lincoln, the Gettysburg Address, 1863

Although we have not taken arms against one another, our country is deeply divided over critical issues.  It is critically important that the citizens of our country recognize the responsibility to defend our freedom and take seriously the responsibility we have to be involved in the governance of our great nation so that it will indeed remain great.  At a time when economic woes, unemployment, violence, and moral decline plague our country, citizens need to be educated on the issues we face and empowered to address them responsibly with those we have elected to represent us.

The Labor Dept. posted the June 2012 Jobs Report, reporting that 80,000 jobs were added in June, short of expected forecasts and not robust enough to impact the nation’s unemployment rate of 8.2%.  The June number represents the third month of weak hiring, leaving analysts to ponder the possibilities of a double dip recession, while other experts continue to point out that it is forward movement and recovery takes time.   Let your elected officials know how the economy impacts you personally.

Supreme Court Upholds the Constitutionality of Obama Care

The 5-4 decision of the court pivoted around the controversial individual mandate and the question of whether government by law can force Americans to purchase something, even healthcare.  The ruling was upheld because the government has the power to tax.  Justice Roberts stressed that the ruling was not based on the merits of the law but rather it’s constitutionality, Roberts stated, “We do not consider whether the act embodies sound policies.  That judgment is entrusted to the nation’s elected leaders.”

Healthcare in America represents ONE SIXTH of our total U.S. economy.  How will this decision impact small business? Individuals who are now mandated by law to purchase healthcare or be taxed?  Is Obama Care going to be helpful or harmful? Vote now at http://www.ucount.us

Freedom is not really free…

We remember… that we are FREE to do what we do today ONLY because brave men and women fight to give us this liberty. Let us not take it for granted or forget about their sacrifices, or the sacrifices of their families. Freedom is not really free, it exacts a high price to remain so… Continue to pray for our men and women who serve us today.
